Screenshots, clipboard and markup
Destinations
Open editor keeps the screenshot in memory and opens markup without saving a file. Save to library writes a normal PNG with a readable timestamp name in your Screenshots folder. Copy to clipboard copies immediately and shows a temporary preview without saving an image or project folder. Editing a clipboard preview also stays in memory until you choose Save.
Editing
Use arrows, rectangles, ellipses, pen, highlighting, text and numbered steps to explain your screenshot. Use the pointer tool to select an existing annotation. Selected objects can be moved, resized or deleted. Text supports editable wording, font size, wrapping and rotation. Undo and redo help you revise changes. Crop changes the saved image area. Edits stay in memory until you choose Save. Use Save as to keep a separate copy.
Use the magnifying glass buttons below the image to zoom in and out. Scroll horizontally or vertically to inspect a zoomed image. Fit returns the entire image to view; the percentage is relative to the fitted view.
Blur and redaction
Blur is a visual effect with an adjustable 0 to 100 strength scale. The lower part of the scale is deliberately gentle. Use solid Redact for passwords, access tokens, financial details or other secrets. Blur is not a guarantee that text cannot be inferred.
Saved annotations and redactions are flattened into image pixels. Save replaces the selected image, while Save as creates a separate image. Unsaved edits are not written automatically. Older project folders can still contain unredacted originals.
PNG and JPEG
Use the format dropdown to choose PNG or JPEG. PNG is useful for crisp interface text and transparency. JPEG offers a quality setting and fills transparency with white. Copy copies the current edited image to the clipboard without saving. The first Save opens the macOS Save dialog so you can name the screenshot. Save as always opens that dialog.
Scrolling screenshots
Choose Scrolling screenshot and capture a viewport. Scroll downward with some overlap, then choose Add scroll frame. Repeat and finish the screenshot. This is guided stitching, not automatic scrolling. Keep the viewport size unchanged. Animations, sticky headers and insufficient overlap may prevent alignment. Duplicate frames are rejected; the combined height is limited to 40,000 pixels.
## Optional screenshot branding
Choose Branding in the screenshot editor, then enable it for that screenshot. Use text or import a PNG/JPEG logo. Choose one of nine positions, then adjust size, opacity and margin. Transparent PNG logos retain their transparency. Logos are held in the editor and resized to at most 1024 pixels on the longest side; the source logo can be moved later. Inputs must be smaller than 10 MB.
The editor shows branding relative to the final crop. Copy and saved PNG or JPEG images include it. Use Save as to preserve a separate original. Branding changes support Undo and Redo. Turn it off or choose Reset branding to remove it from the output. It is not applied automatically to future captures. Video branding and reusable presets are not yet available.
