Snapmodo

The snipping tool for Mac

These are the released Mac App Store 1.1 features. The free Direct 1.1 download is coming soon.

Where is Snipping Tool on a Mac?

macOS has no app with that name. Command Shift 5 opens Screenshot; Command Shift 4 captures a region. Hold Control to copy the capture to the clipboard. For occasional snips, the built-in tool may be enough.

Coming from Windows?

Windows Shift S is the familiar starting point. In Snapmodo, use Control Option 1, or set your own shortcut, including Print Screen when your keyboard sends F13. Mark up, copy and paste.

Free screenshots include region, window and main display capture, a clipboard preview, editable arrows, text, numbered steps, solid redaction, custom shortcuts and pinning a floating screenshot. Full unlock adds OCR, guided scrolling screenshots, screen and webcam recording, captions and GIF.

On a small screen, swipe the table to compare both columns.

Before your first snip

Is it free?

Screenshots and markup are free. The full unlock is $9.99, yours to keep.

Does it work on Intel?

Yes. macOS 15 or later on Intel or Apple silicon. Optional captions and Apple Intelligence have additional requirements.

Does it need an account?

No Snapmodo account for the App Store edition. Direct paid activation uses a Snapmodo account.

Which edition should I get?

Most people should get Snapmodo from the Mac App Store. It is a free download, and one in-app purchase unlocks everything. Apple handles payment, restore and updates, and you do not need a Snapmodo account. The free Direct 1.1 download is coming soon. The current Direct release remains available to purchase, with a seven-day trial. The 1.1 features described here apply to the App Store edition. Purchases do not transfer between the two editions.
