Snapmodo and Snagit

Snapmodo focuses on local screenshots, markup and short screen recordings on Mac. It is not a full replacement for Snagit or CleanShot. Choose the tool that covers the work you actually do.

Where Snapmodo fits

Capture a region, window or display. Add markup, then save an image or copy it to the clipboard. For recording, choose 9:16, 16:9, 1:1 or 4:5 before pressing Record. Camera layouts are chosen by you, not automatic picture in picture.

Know the gaps

• No OCR or text extraction.
• No hosted cloud share links.
• No automatic zoom.
• No GIF export or automatic captions.
• No Windows app. Snapmodo requires macOS 15 or later.

If any of these are essential, check the current feature lists and plans from TechSmith and CleanShot. We do not claim that every alternative includes every feature, or that Snapmodo matches their complete workflows.
