Getting started with Snapmodo

Snapmodo is a local Mac app for screenshots, markup and screen recordings. It requires macOS 15 or later. Captures stay on your Mac unless you choose to export or share them. The Mac App Store edition does not require a Snapmodo account.

Your first screenshot

  1. Open New capture and choose Screenshot.
  2. Choose Select region, Main display, or Window.
  3. Choose Open editor, Copy to clipboard, or Save image.
  4. Click Capture screenshot. For a region, drag across what you want to capture. Press Escape to cancel the selection.

Copy to clipboard returns you to the capture panel with a temporary preview. It does not open the editor or create a library item. Choose Edit if you want to mark it up; choose Save or Save as in the editor if you want to keep it.

Your first recording

Choose Recording, a capture area and any camera or audio sources. Click Start recording, check the framing and input previews, then click Record in the floating controller. Use Pause or Stop there, in the menu bar, or with your configured shortcuts.

Permissions

macOS asks for Screen & System Audio Recording permission for screen capture, including screenshots. Camera and microphone are separate permissions used only when enabled. Snapmodo opens the relevant System Settings section when access is missing. Allow Snapmodo and use Quit & Reopen if macOS offers it.

Where to find help

Open Help & guides from the sidebar or the Help menu. Search for recording, audio, clipboard, export, permissions or Stream Deck. Settings contains direct permission links and Show library in Finder.
