Direct licenses, trials and updates
The website edition is available as a direct download. These instructions describe the direct edition; Mac App Store purchases and updates remain managed by Apple.
Download and install
Choose Buy direct to open secure checkout. Enter your name and email, with company optional. You do not need to sign in before paying. After payment is confirmed, the purchase page shows your new license key and Download Snapmodo for Mac. A secure receipt in that browser provides access for 24 hours. To return later or manage your Macs, sign in to your Snapmodo account with your password or a supported sign-in provider and select your purchased license. For a new trial, download the app and enter your name and email in Settings > License. No email confirmation is needed before capture. Download license file saves your key and instructions separately. A license email is sent automatically after purchase, usually within five minutes. Keep the key private.
Open the DMG installer and drag Snapmodo to Applications. Eject the disk image, then open Snapmodo from Applications. Do not install the direct copy beside a TestFlight or App Store copy: duplicate copies can send capture permissions or Stream Deck actions to the wrong app.
If a download is interrupted, sign back into the same account and download it again. This does not issue a second license or restart a trial. If macOS reports that the app is damaged or cannot be verified, stop and contact support; do not disable Gatekeeper.
Connect and activate
In Settings > License, sign in with your Snapmodo account. Complete email verification if requested. Google or Apple sign-in opens a secure browser connection; approve only a request you started yourself. Then activate a purchased license. To try the app without an account, choose Start free trial and enter your name and email. An internet connection is required to start.
The seven-day trial starts at first successful activation, not when you download the app or receive the key. No payment card is required, and the trial does not automatically charge you. One trial is available per email address and Mac. We email your trial dates, a reminder before expiration, and an expiration notice with a purchase link. Optional product offers require a separate choice. Reinstalling does not restart it.
One license, one person, up to two Macs. A paid direct license may be active on two Macs at the same time, both used by the same person. An emailed key identifies your license, but the owning verified account is still required to activate it.
Manage your Macs
Settings > License and your web account show the number of active Macs, your license limit, and each Mac’s name. Choose Deauthorize beside a Mac to free its seat immediately. Then connect your account and activate that license on the replacement Mac. You do not need access to the old computer to unassign it from the website.
Signing out alone does not free a seat. If you sign out before deactivating, use the website to unassign the old Mac. Moving a license does not move your recordings or screenshot library; back those up separately.
An offline Mac may retain its previously issued access for up to 30 days after remote deactivation. It loses access when it next successfully checks the revoked assignment or when its existing offline period ends.
Offline use and expiry
Paid activation supports up to 30 days offline before an internet check is required. Settings > License shows the reconnect deadline. The app checks periodically while online; use Check license status to request a check yourself.
After a trial or offline period expires, new captures require activation or renewal. Existing screenshots and recordings remain available to open, edit and export. Snapmodo does not delete them. A recording already in progress can finish.
If your account connection expires, choose Connect account again and use the same verified email. A network failure does not extend an expired trial or offline period.
Price and terms
The paid direct edition has a one-time price shown on the website, with no subscription. Taxes may apply. Team licensing is planned, with no announced date. The seven-day trial remains limited to one Mac per email address. The Mac App Store edition follows Apple’s purchase and usage terms and has no direct license controls.
Purchases, email and recovery
A checkout return page is not proof of payment. The account waits for verified confirmation from the payment service, then shows the purchased license and download. If confirmation takes longer, check again later instead of paying twice. Contact hello@matanoit.com if it remains pending.
Your license email is sent automatically after purchase. Choose Resend license email only if you need another copy of the current key. Email delays do not prevent access through your signed-in account. Check spam and junk folders. Repeated same-day requests can reuse the same delivery.
Product emails are optional. Change Email preferences in your account to opt in or out of Snapmodo tips, features and offers. There is no third-party marketing. Essential sign-in and license emails continue.
If you lose access to your email address, contact hello@matanoit.com. Account ownership must be verified before support can help with a change. Do not post license keys or sensitive captures in support requests.
Updates
Direct purchases include Snapmodo 1.x updates. Future major upgrades may be sold separately or carry an upgrade fee. There is no automatic upgrade charge.
The direct edition offers Check for Updates in the Snapmodo menu and in Settings > License after connecting your account. With automatic checks enabled, it checks daily while running. Updates show release notes and offer installation and relaunch, or Later. Snapmodo verifies the signed update before installation. No update is installed silently in the background.
Finish any capture, countdown, recording, scrolling capture or export before restarting. If an update becomes ready during that work, finish the task and choose Install and Relaunch in Settings > License. Your account connection, license and local library remain outside the application bundle and are preserved when it is replaced.
Older direct builds that only offer an account download require one manual update to acquire this updater: quit Snapmodo, open the downloaded DMG and replace Snapmodo in Applications. This remains the recovery path if an update cannot complete. Do not replace a Mac App Store installation with a direct build as an update; Apple manages Store updates.
